I read somewhere that there are 'special items' for pvp play, any idea what that was about?

yes, I realize there are probably threads about this, but it's 525am and I'm not about to search

well seeing as how it's RA/TA based weekend I don't see why people would put it anywhere else

but I didn't notice any special weapons

went in again and man, forgot how fun that is. Rolling team after team with an enraged thumper.. <3. Had a W/Mo on my team with prot spirit and healing breeze -- but no mending! And a Me/E fastcast fire with an air weapon/offhand, but a good boon prot.. fast matches, lol.. 4 glad points already [so, 2 runs ^^]

hopefully RA will break that ~40 district mark CA always maintained ^_^

I just hope that the gladiator title doesn't lead to "glad rank" elitism in TA, that would seriously just be lame. I like that people don't take the gladiator title TOO seriously at this point. You only see a few "gladiator only" groups.

Let's face it there's a difference between filtering out noobs (which you can do rather easily in TA) and just being an ass.

don't worry, there's one rank 4-5 glad player who earned his/her points illictly through Zaishen Elite. just more evidence to support the notion that RANK MEANS NOTHING.

Default is it just me?

Or did all of the bad players in the game come out of hiding to take part in the RA and TA event this weekend?

RA is usually a joke for sure (see my screenshot forum post) - but I've been RAing for the betterpart of this morning...and It seems the lowest of low in the player base have decided to stop failing at THK 20 times in a row, and come do the same in RA...

I'm a Rit Spirit Spammer (which i play when I want glad points) - because this usually gaurentees a Glad point if I get teamed with a competent monk. But not today lol.

Haven't had a decent team all morning. Half of them don't even understand the game :\

First big problem:
My Team would Huddle around the Spirits I was laying, like they thought spirits had an adjacent range or something...This of course coupled with no monk ment that the fight was brought right to me and I dropped in 2 secs, and at the very least makes my time get WTFPWNT by the first AoE thrown. The opposite happened alot too...Where the other Team just instantly Leeroy Jenkins'ed totally out of my spirits range and never looked back - Making me run after them to set spirits closer, which usually means I'm targeted by 2-3 of the opposing team...

Second Big Problem:
I haven't been in a team all morning that was really legit. I either get a team of Assassin's that drop like flys as they rush the enemy, or a team of Warriors that all jump on different targets and don't know what spirits are...The warriors BTW are usually something funny like a Hundred Blades warrior...and the assassin's usually haven't unlocked any "good" assassin attack skills, so they use cruddy ones that don't even do anything really..

I got in 1 team that get the professions to make it...But Alas...The Warrior immediently after the gate opens just runs totally to the other side of the map and starts trying to solo all 4 players...Drops in like 1 second..I say stupid warrior (he has Hundred Blades btw)...The Monks agrees and ragequits.

And that ended the one solid profession'ed team I had..

Please don't complain about how stupid people are in Random Arenas..hold on im going to say it again...RANDOM Arenas... I really just don't understand how you can justify yourself. If you want skilled team members then go to Team Arenas.

ps. No one feels sorry for you cause you didn't get a glad point in RA!!!!

Several people in my guild have gotten the gladiator title and lately we have been doing okay in TA. I am hoping that we can take advantage of this weekend as well but so far nobody has come online yet. =/ Also it looks like there's a lot of good teams trying to farm glad points and faction so we may have a rough go of it.

Having a glad rank is a good indication that you have spent some time in arena and have a basic understanding of how to kill things. It doesn't speak at all to your ability to form a team build, ability to target properly, ability to play a particular requested char build, or even your ability to make an effective char build yourself.

As for Zaishen farming, I hardly even saw any Fierce Gladiators for quite a while so I doubt there's many people who farmed the Zaishen for more than the first rank. And first rank of Gladiator is actually attainable by most people just by doing RA. So I think the overall effect of Zaishen farming is negligible.

I expect the variance in skill level in TA/RA to be higher than normal. While I do expect to see more good teams participating in TA than usual, I also expect to see many more teams in general. I expect the percentage of "good" matches to remain constant due to this event or perhaps even decline slightly.

There is supposedly one player that reached level 4 gladiator strictly from Zaishen farming. Luckily, this glitch of Zaishen awarding glad points was removed from the game.

I was personally hoping that the gladiator title track ended at level 5 terrifying (280 glad points), but my guild leader just reached this level last night and alas there is a level 6 of 466 glad points. Wiki seems to be getting updated as people reach the next level. Anyone know how high the gladiator level goes? If there are 13 levels like HA titles, then I can only imagine the sheer number of wins necessary to reach level 13 gladiator.

Gladiator only groups tend to be guild groups, or sometimes a group consisting of two different guilds.

The double faction is awesome. I've picked up 4 glad points and ~10k faction in about 90 minutes of play. It's a shame I'm going to be in DC all of tomorrow... so many hours of extra faction and glad points lost

I agree with your statement in TA, but RA definatley not!
this event although great in summary is increasing the number of strong teams in TA because of the attractive dble glad points, isn't anything special..... as for random arena... thats a different story! the population of noobsville just increased by ten fold.

@divineshadows; more than 13 levels.. HA doesn't stop at r13, just no one has it yet~~ so probably at least like 15 levels.. same with champion, most likely.

@ Juicy Shake

Someone does infact have rank 13. I saw someone with the Emperor's Hero title awhile back, which is the 13th level.

Personaly, I don't think those titles *ever* actualy stop. If they did, I'd assume rank 12 would have as good a place as any to stop, but it seems by ANET asking for ideas about a Rank 15 emote, that they'll at least go up to the 15th level, if not higher.

Mmmm, was playing early this morning and got stopped cold a couple of times in TA by a team of WM guys having fun... I guess the point about seeing good teams in the arena holds true

The one thing i seriously don't like are top guilds sync entering the Random Arenas. They're willingly abusing a flaw to steamroll other teams. There is no way in hell a random team could compete with 3-4 Players from a Top Guild, all on TS/Vent.
